Often manufacturers claim that a new product is more rugged and stronger. With the new Focus 40 Blue 5th Gen Freedom Scientific have added a shock proof design with a housing built from aluminum and steel, and which has shock absorbers both inside and out. It has been drop tested to the international standard MIL-STD-810G and the Braille cells have been physically isolated to create a Braille display able to meet the demands of the active user. This is particularly relevant in education where most damage to Braille devices occurs when they are accidentally dropped.

Like previous Focus Blue models, the fifth generation is lightweight and compact with a user-friendly keyboard and control layout. You can have up to five Bluetooth connections so that you can easily connect to iOS and Android™ devices such as smartphones, iPads®, and tablets. You can also use the Perkins-style keyboard for effortless Braille text input to control your computer. When you combine the Focus 40 Blue with JAWS®, you have the ultimate in speech and Braille access to your computer.
A new “scratch pad” note-taking function enables quick note-taking on the fly.
