232.  This is the number of years’ experience in the Low Vision and Optical professions of all the people at Quantum who deal directly with our clients. It is a big number, and represents the depth of experience that comes from being a leader in our field for nearly 3 decades. In an age of ‘instant’ everything, it is easy to lose sight of just how important experience is. Yet often we see older Australians marginalised and left out of important decisions and their needs overlooked. How many commentators welcome low interest rates when so many retired people live off their savings?  Who bothers to ask seniors about the design of everyday items, like the telephone directory, or information from government that might look flashy, but is nearly impossible to read? Perhaps we should take comfort from the words of Mark Twain – “Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.”
