Why does a magnifier need batteries? It’s just glass and a handle isn’t it?

All good quality magnifying glasses now have a built in light source – a bright LED light (and you can choose from a bright white or a softer warm light) that needs battery power. That is because the very first step to seeing better is by ensuring you are reading in good light.

With good lighting you can read even in places with very poor lighting, like most restaurants!

However, changing batteries in your magnifying glass can be difficult and many people can’t manage it. This really limits the usefulness of the magnifying glass.

Now Schweizer in Germany have come out with a range of re-chargeable magnifying glasses. There are no cables, simply pop your magnifying glass on top of the charging pad and it charges automatically. It’s that simple. Let there be light!
